Royal Decree 960/2020, of November 3, which regulates the economic regime of renewable energies for electricity production facilities establishes in article 3 that the granting of the economic regime of renewable energies will be carried out through auctions, guaranteeing its award in an open, transparent, competitive, profitable and non-discriminatory way.

Said economic regime allows the perception of income through the sale of energy in the market, with the particularity that, for a determined volume of energy and within a defined period, the sale price of energy will be calculated from the result of each auction.

According to article 10, the auction manager will be OMI-Polo Español S.A. (OMIE) directly or through one of its subsidiaries.

Order TED / 1161/2020, of December 4, regulates the first auction mechanism for the granting of the economic regime of renewable energies called under the aforementioned Royal Decree, establishes the characteristics of said economic regime and sets the indicative calendar for the 2020-2025 period, which includes indicative deadlines, the frequency of the calls, the expected capacity and the planned technologies.
